Meet K & L

Their Story

K & L love making the most of life together in Wilmington, North Carolina. Whether they're snowboarding out west, spending time at the beach, playing golf and tennis, or cooking family recipes inspired by K's Cuban heritage, they enjoy creating meaningful memories together. Their miniature Bernedoodle, Poppy, is always by their side, and they look forward to the day she becomes a big sister. Family traditions, from Sunday morning pancakes to holiday trips with loved ones, are some of the moments they cherish most.

After L was diagnosed with MRKH syndrome as a teenager, she learned she would be unable to carry a pregnancy. Although the news was heartbreaking, it never changed their dream of becoming parents. Surrogacy has given them hope for the future, and they are incredibly grateful for the woman who will help make that dream a reality.

A Letter from the Intended Parents

Dear potential surrogate,

If you’re reading this, thank you. It is impossible to fully express how grateful we are that someone like you would even consider helping another family experience the greatest gift imaginable. We know becoming a surrogate requires incredible strength, compassion, and selflessness, and before you know anything else about us, we want you to know how deeply we admire you for considering this journey.

We are K & L, and while our path to becoming parents has looked a little different than we once imagined, our dream has always been the same, to build a family filled with love, laughter, adventure, and unconditional support.

When I was 17 years old, I was diagnosed with MRKH syndrome and learned that I was born without a uterus. Hearing those words was heartbreaking because, for as long as I can remember, becoming a mom had always been my biggest dream. Growing up, I babysat for families all over my hometown because I loved being around children. Later, I completed my student teaching in a kindergarten classroom, wrote my senior thesis on creative and engaging ways to motivate preschool children to learn, and spent years teaching tennis to kids. Children have always brought me so much joy, and while my diagnosis changed the way we would become parents, it never changed my dream of becoming one. Today, we’re simply grateful that because of amazing women like you, that dream is still possible.

When we imagine becoming parents, we don’t think about the big milestones first. We think about the little moments that make up a childhood.

Sunday mornings making pancakes together. Teaching our child how to play tennis or hit a golf ball for the first time. Family walks with our dog, Poppy. Beach days spent building sandcastles. Watching our child discover snow for the first time on a family trip up to MI or CO. Helping with homework around the kitchen table. Cheering from the sidelines at games and school performances. Reading bedtime stories. Decorating the Christmas tree together. Taking family vacations around the world and watching our child experience places that have become so special to us.
More than anything, we hope our home is one where our children always feel safe, encouraged, supported, and deeply loved. We want them to know they can dream big, be kind, work hard, laugh often, and always know they have a family cheering them on no matter what.

If you choose to help us, please know that your kindness will forever change our lives. Because of you, a dream that has lived in my heart since I was a little girl could finally become a reality. Our child will grow up knowing they were wanted beyond words, loved long before they were born, and made possible because of an incredibly generous woman who chose to help another family.

There will never be enough words to thank you for considering this extraordinary gift. No matter where this journey leads, we will always be grateful for women like you who make families like ours possible.

With all our love and gratitude,
K & L
