Dear future friend!
We’re the "L" family — A, J, our sweet little boy I, and our fluffy Shih Tzu, Arwen (yes, named after the elf from Lord of the Rings. We’re big fans). We live in North Carolina in a friendly suburb just outside Raleigh, where kids ride bikes in the cul-de-sac and neighbors always wave hello. Our neighborhood is diverse, warm, and close-knit. The kind of place where people look out for each other and there’s always someone to borrow an egg from.
A bit about us: A is a video game programmer who spends his days bringing imaginary worlds to life and his evenings getting tackled by I on the living room floor. He’s a homebody at heart who loves quiet weekends, good games, and finding new ways to make J laugh. J is the social one, a stay-at-home mom who loves connecting with people, organizing playdates, and finding beauty in everyday life. Together, we balance each other perfectly — calm and lively, logical and creative — but what grounds us most is that family always comes first.
I joined our family in March 2024, born in Mexico City through the help of a wonderful gestational carrier. He’s a sunny, sociable little boy whose first word was “hi,” and he says it to everyone. He’s curious, affectionate, and fiercely independent, the kind of child who explores the world with wonder but always looks back to make sure we’re smiling. He’s changed our lives in ways we never expected, filling our home with laughter, sticky fingers, and so much love.
Our path to parenthood hasn’t been simple. Our challenges have given us a deep appreciation for the miracle of surrogacy and for the women who make families possible through their courage, kindness, and strength.
If we’re lucky enough to share this journey with you, we want you to know we’d see it as a true partnership, one built on respect, openness, and care. We’d love to stay connected in whatever way feels natural for you, whether that’s sharing updates, attending appointments, or simply cheering you on from afar. You’d always be treated with the gratitude and warmth you deserve.
As we imagine our evenings as a family, from board game nights to movie marathons with Arwen curled up beside us and I clapping at the screen, we can’t help but feel excited about growing that love even more. Thank you, truly, for considering helping families like ours. What you do is nothing short of extraordinary.
With love and gratitude,
J & A
